FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: ball bearing assembled using hollow balls. At insignificant external working load it will be perceived only by balls installed with interference, and at the same time, due to the absence of a structural gap, ensure accurate rotation of the shaft installed in such bearings. With an increase to a certain value of the working load, the hollow balls are elastically deformed so that the balls pre-installed with a design gap enter the process of taking up the load, and the whole set of balls jointly perceives the working load. When the load is reduced, the reverse process takes place. Bearing changes, as it were, from a lighter series of loads to a heavier series and vice versa, for example, from an ultra-light series to a particularly light series and vice versa.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of shaft rotation, reduced radial clearance, increased load-carrying capacity.
