FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, namely to relay protection and automation systems of 6–10 kV switchgears, and is intended for detection of faults leading to occurrence of electric arc inside switchgear cubicle, and disconnection of circuits in which it occurred. Result is achieved by the fact that in the protection device against arc and partial discharges, comprising a sensitive element and a converter, as a sensitive element, a broadband microphone is used, connected through an analogue-to-digital converter by means of a digital channel to a server, which includes a signal analyser, database, knowledge base, decision making subsystem. Decision-making subsystem is connected to the database and the knowledge base with the possibility of exchanging with them information on the characteristics of signals coming from the signal analyser of this switchgears, as well as previously obtained characteristics of signals of operation of other switchgears, to determine the state of the switchgear. In case of pre-emergency or emergency state, the decision-making subsystem sends a signal through the output of the protection device to the switch, which disconnects the switchgears from the power network.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of protection against partial and arc discharges.
