SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of protecting a plant from a pathogen, involving the introduction of a recombinant bacterium of the Bacillus cereus group expressing a hybrid protein into a plant growth medium or using a recombinant bacterium of the Bacillus cereus group expressing a hybrid protein to a plant, a plant seed or an area surrounding a plant or a plant seed, to a recombinant bacterium of the Bacillus cereus group for protecting a plant from a pathogen expressing a hybrid protein, as well as to a preparation containing said bacterium. Also disclosed is a plant seed coated with a seed coating preparation containing a recombinant bacterium of the Bacillus cereus group and an agriculturally acceptable carrier.
