FIELD: production of petrochemical products.

SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to methods and systems for the production of petrochemical products. A process is described for converting all crude oil and other heavy hydrocarbon streams to produce olefins and/or aromatics, and the process includes: separating all crude oil into at least a low-boiling fraction having a 95% initial boiling point ranging from about 90 to 250°C, medium-boiling fraction having a 15% initial boiling point up to 160°C and 85% initial boiling point at 490°C, and a high-boiling residue fraction having an 85% initial boiling point above 490°C; hydrocracking the high-boiling residue fraction in the first hydrocracking system to produce a hydrocracked effluent; separating the hydrocracked effluent in an in-line separator to produce ultra-low sulphur heavy fuel oil and a hydrotreated fraction; combining the medium-boiling fraction and the hydrotreated fraction; destructively hydrogenating the combined medium-boiling fraction and hydrotreated fraction in a second hydrotreating system to form a steam cracker feed stream; feeding the steam cracker feed stream and the low-boiling fraction to the steam cracker to convert the hydrocarbons therein to one or more light olefins and pyrolysis oil. A system is described for converting all crude oil and other heavy hydrocarbon streams to implement the process described above.

EFFECT: expanding the arsenal of means of methods and systems for converting crude oil and other streams of heavy hydrocarbons into olefins and/or aromatic compounds.
