FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to medical genetics, molecular biology, psychiatry, and paediatrics, and can be used for differential diagnosis of child schizophrenia and autism in children with mental disorder. Copy number of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) in the child’s genome is determined by non-radioactive quantitative hybridisation of DNA recovered from blood cells. If observing more than 536 copies per diploid genome, the child’s schizophrenia is diagnosed. If observing less than 393 copies per diploid genome, the child’s autism is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method provides easy-to-implement and requiring no special high-tech equipment differential diagnosis of schizophrenia and autism in children with mental disorder by determining the number of rDNA copies per diploid gene.
