FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to experimental medicine, namely to neurology, and can be used for cerebral neuroprotection in focal cerebral ischemia. Photoinduced ischemic stroke (PIS) in vivo is simulated in rats. That is followed by a three-time two-hour inhalation of an argon-oxygen mixture: Ar 70%/O2 30% at rate of 0.5 l/min per one animal. Inhalation is carried out after PIS, as well as in 24 and 72 hours.
EFFECT: method enables to determine the clinical effectiveness and safety of using the inert gas argon as a neuroprotector in focal cerebral ischemia, which in turn reduces the volume of brain damage by 2 times and reduces the severity of neurological deficit.
