FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, and can be used to predict the risk of developing aortic stenosis in patients with bicuspid aortic valve and dilatation of the ascending aorta. Patient 's blood serum is analysed for calcification biomarkers sRANKL and osteoprotegerin, total cholesterol, creatinine, severity of aortic insufficiency (AI) is assessed by echocardiographic findings. Further, a logistic function of the probability of aortic stenosis is calculated by formula
where p is the probability of aortic stenosis in %; X1 is patient’s sex: male – 1, female – 0; X2 – AI: 0 – no regurgitation/paravalvular, mild – 1, moderate – 2, severe – 3; X3 is blood serum creatinine in mcmol/l; X4 is total blood serum cholesterol in mmol/l; X5 is the value of sRANKL in blood serum in pmol/l; X6 is the value of osteoprotegerin in blood serum in pmol/l; -8.4972 is a free member of the equation. Derived value p>85% testifies to the development of aortic stenosis in the patients with a bicuspid aortic valve and dilatation of the ascending aorta.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the reliability and the specificity of predicting the risk of developing aortic stenosis in patients with a bicuspid aortic valve and dilatation of the ascending aorta by assessing a combination of risk factors, which are calcification markers: osteoprotegerin and sRANKL, serum creatinine and total cholesterol, AI severity level.
