FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ultrafine powders of inorganic materials and compounds, particularly to a method of producing elemental boron nanopowder. Method involves preparing a composition containing elemental boron nanoparticles with linear dimensions less than 100 nm in three dimensions, distributed in a liquid medium. Obtained composition is freeze-dried. When performing freeze drying at the freezing stage, fast deep freezing is performed for 2–60 minutes or slow deep freezing for 2–24 hours, then two-stage drying is carried out at residual pressure selected from range of 10-1–10-12 mbar. Time of the second drying stage is greater than or equal to the time of the first drying stage, and the temperature of the second drying stage is higher than the temperature of the first drying stage.

EFFECT: obtaining nanopowder of elemental boron of high degree of purity and low bulk density.
