FIELD: pipelines.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to maintenance and operation of in-field pipelines of oil and gas companies. Technical problem is the development of a method for determining the volume of deposits in a pipeline. Method consists in installation of two pressure sensors at the beginning and end of the pipeline with deposits of horizontal design, pumping into the pipeline in turbulent mode with constant flow rate of liquid with viscosity different from the viscosity of the liquid in the pipeline, and fixing the time of filling the cavity of the pipeline with the pumped liquid. Volume of deposits is determined using a mathematical formula. Time of pipeline cavity filling with specified liquid is determined by stabilization at one value of difference of readings of specified pressure sensors.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measurements of the volume of deposits in a pipeline in the absence of high-precision pressure sensors and possibility of creating a high-viscosity liquid of the required volume in field conditions.
