SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heterogeneous catalysis. Disclosed is a method of producing a support based on aluminium oxide with a controlled specific surface, including thermal treatment of granular commercial aluminium oxide, according to the invention, the granular commercial aluminium oxide is subjected to hydrothermal treatment at temperature of 150–190 °C and pressure equal to saturated water vapor pressure at treatment temperature for 3–60 hours, at weight ratio of water : aluminium oxide (2–10):1, with subsequent drying of the obtained product.

EFFECT: low power consumption during the process of producing the support and possibility of varying the specific surface area of the aluminium oxide-based support in a wide range.
