FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of investigating mechanical properties of coatings and can be used to assess the adhesion strength of the coating. Test coating (2) is applied on the outer surface of plate (1). Plate (1) with coating (2) is bent at preset angle so that coating (2) is located in area of plate (1) expansion. Adhesion strength of coating (2) is estimated by results of its destruction in area (4) of deformation at bending. Wherein plate (1) is thinned in area (4) of deformation caused by its bending. Thinning is performed on the inner side of plate (1) in the form of cylindrical recess (3), the axis of which is located perpendicular to the bending plane of plate (1), and the value of the maximum thinning of plate (1) ranges from 0.3h to 0.7h, where h is plate thickness.
EFFECT: high accuracy of estimating adhesion strength of the coating due to stabilization of the size of the deformation zone of the coating during bending tests.
