FIELD: test equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing equipment, namely to experimental methods for evaluating properties of a polymer composite material (PCM), and can be used to determine the shear strength of a volume-reinforced composite material based on woven or braided preforms using square-shaped samples with a central hole. Method includes fixing a flat sample with a central hole in the device, its uniform loading along the circumference with a punch at a given constant speed, recording the maximum force that the specimen can withstand and calculating the ultimate shear strength. Volume-reinforced composite sample is made with thickness greater than or equal to double length of material reinforcement structure repeat in shear direction, then it is loaded with a puncheon with a diameter greater than the sum of double thickness of the sample with the diameter of its central hole.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining ultimate strength during shearing of volume-reinforced PCM based on woven or braided preforms.
