FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiosurgery. Incision is made on the left atrium, a retractor is used, and the pericardium is fixed. Right pericardial flap is fixed and tracted in a projection of the left atrium under a branch of the retractor. For this purpose, the retractor is temporarily removed, the edge of the right pericardium flap is pulled up and together with the suture applied thereon is laid under the branch of the retractor with its repeated application, at that, pericardium is dissected and proximal portion of superior vena cava is separated with its subsequent relocation in direction contralateral from surgeon, in addition, performing an interatrial septum stratification to an oval fossa and upwards under a superior vena cava, and a left atrium is incised through an oval fossa with an outlet to its dome under a superior vena cava.

EFFECT: method enables to provide a wide access to the mitral valve, to obtain the optimal direction of the operating axis, the operating angle and the inclination angle of the operating axis, as well as in all patients regardless of heart size and other anatomical features, perform a preferable version of mitral insufficiency correction – mitral valve repair.
