FIELD: control and measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic detection of overheating of electrical equipment elements. To this end, the system includes: at least two gas sensors (S1, S2) intended for installation in at least two different monitored zones for detecting gases released when the monitored element is heated, or thermally activated gas-releasing materials installed on it; controller configured to be connected to at least two gas sensors S1 and S2 and generate a notice of overheating and/or transmit information on such overheating to another device, when the sensor S1 detects gases released during heating of the monitored element in one monitored zone or thermally activated gas-releasing materials installed on it, taking into account the concentration of background gases, occurrence of which is not associated with heating of controlled elements, in air, detected by sensor S2, installed in another controlled area.
EFFECT: improving reliability and safety of electrical equipment operation due to timely detection of defects accompanied by overheating of electrical equipment elements.
