FIELD: fire-protection equipment.

SUBSTANCE: systems for detecting emergency and pre-fire situations, namely – systems for automatically detecting overheating of electrical equipment elements, methods of their use and testing. The system for automatically detecting overheating of electrical equipment elements includes gas sensor Scon designed to detect gases released on heating of the controlled element or thermally activated gas-emitting materials installed on it; gas sensor Scom designed to determine the concentration of background gases in the air near the controlled area; a controller configured to connect with at least two gas sensors, including at least one controlling sensor Scon and at least one comparison sensor Scom and generating a notification on overheating and/or transmitting information about such overheating to another device. Also disclosed is a method for testing the said system and a method for using it to automatically detect overheating of electrical equipment elements.

EFFECT: improved reliability and safety of electrical equipment operation due to timely detection of defects accompanied by overheating of electrical equipment elements.
