FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing alkyl mercaptans by addition of hydrogen sulphide to olefins in the presence of a cation-exchange resin at temperature of 10÷120 °C. Method is characterized by that the reaction is carried out in the presence of a hydrogen sulphide-containing fraction of the following composition (mol.%): hydrogen sulphide – 60.0÷99.5, hydrogen – 0.01÷0.20, hydrocarbons C1-C5 – 0.1÷0.5, carbon dioxide – the rest, of petroleum refineries, produced at amine gas purification plants.
EFFECT: achieving conversion of raw material of not less than 90% with selectivity of the process not lower than 98%, maintaining constant activity of cation-exchange resins, reducing the volume of the reaction zone and, consequently, reducing specific capital costs when implementing industrial production.
