Method consists in the fact that before immersion in liquid of known density to side surface of sample at opposite ends are attached two rings, through which parallel to longitudinal axis of sample from bottom to top is passed L-shaped rod, wherein for attachment to the sample, the rings are equipped with needles, which are rigidly connected to them by one end, and by the opposite sharp end are introduced into the sample body, wherein the density is determined by the known expression , where ρsam is the density of the wood sample, ρl is density of liquid, Hsub is the height of the submerged part of the sample, Hsam is the height of the sample.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining density of wood by creating conditions for vertical arrangement of a sample during its immersion into a liquid without using a load.
