FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic chemistry. Disclosed is a method of producing a catalyst containing silicon carbide and platinum, for extraction of hydrogen from water during electrocatalysis, including generation of plasma by means of electric arc device, use of argon of normal atmospheric pressure, plasma outflow into metal chamber, deposition and collection of synthesized powder of silicon carbide, production of suspension from silicon carbide and its mixing with aqueous solution of H2PtCl6⋅6H2O, depositing platinum clusters on the surface of silicon carbide nanoparticles, adding a reducing agent, washing the obtained precipitate with distilled water from reaction products, drying and collecting it.
EFFECT: development of a method of producing a catalyst containing silicon carbide and platinum, which is intended for use in electrocatalysis in the reaction of extracting hydrogen from water.
