FIELD: vehicles; physics; search and rescue operations.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and devices for search and rescue operations using unmanned aircraft systems and can be used to search and rescue lost people, having a mobile phone, which is currently not connected to an active communication network. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is used, which has on-board navigation unit, communication unit with a ground control station (search and rescue station, SRS), a simulator of a base station of a mobile communication network, consisting of an antenna device, a transceiving module and a computing module. SRS is deployed in an area as close as possible to a place in which a person is lost – a search object (SO), a UAV is launched, search area flying around is performed in a certain way, searching for signals of SO user terminal using on-board equipment of UAV, the received signal is direction-finding by the phase method in a series of successive measurements performed during the UAV passage, the obtained bearings are used to determine the SO location coordinates, which are then transmitted to the SRS. Reduced number of UAVs for search and rescue operations. Onboard equipment of UAV is simplified.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining coordinates of SO, shorter search time.
