SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a system for stopping an electric vehicle in case of malfunction and a method of its operation. System includes an electric motor, an insulating rod, a mechanical switch of electrical contacts, a resistive load, a power diode. Electric motor is made with the possibility of driving the electric vehicle and its braking in the generator mode. Insulating rod located under the brake pedal and/or the gas pedal has a position retainer. Rod is connected to a mechanical switch of contacts having a return spring. Mechanical switch of electric contacts is made with possibility of electric motor disconnection from power source and simultaneous connection with resistive load. Power diode allows recuperating part of energy.

EFFECT: providing braking of an electric vehicle irrespective of functioning of electronic braking control systems.
