FIELD: optics; data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to integrated optics and component base of optical information processing devices. Optical diode on two-dimensional photonic crystals, made of two two-dimensional photonic-crystal structures on one substrate, connected by matching devices, wherein one photonic-crystal structure is made with a self-collimation effect, the other photonic-crystal structure is made with a defect in the form of a remote row of lattice elements, wherein the optical signal supplied from the side of the photonic crystal structure, made with a defect in the form of a remote row, passes through it and is attenuated in the structure with self-collimation, and when an optical signal is supplied from the side of the photonic crystal structure with self-collimation, the optical signal passes through both photonic crystal structures.
EFFECT: device according to the invention, which is a system of two photonic crystals and matching devices, enables to conduct an optical signal with minimum losses in transmission mode.
