SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine the effectiveness of the function of respiratory muscles in children in a comprehensive assessment of the function of external respiration. P0.1 indicator is determined during the most regular quiet breathing and P0.1 max indicator of the maximum value when performing the maximum ventilation maneuver; then the obtained absolute values of P0.1 and P0.1 max are calculated as a percentage relative to the same indicators in conditionally healthy children with similar height and weight data. After this, a clinical interpretation of the result is performed, the coordination of the child’s respiratory muscles is assessed at rest as satisfactory if the calculated indicator “P0.1” corresponds to the 10–90 centile interval, reduced if it is less than the 10 centile, or increased if the indicators exceed the 90 centile. The coordination of the child’s respiratory muscles during exercise is assessed as satisfactory if the calculated indicator “P0.1 max” corresponds to the 10–90 centiles interval, decreased if it is less than the 10 centiles, or increased if the indicators exceed 90 centiles.

EFFECT: method provides the opportunity to evaluate the coordination of the respiratory muscles during quiet breathing and exercise, determining the percentage of the results obtained relative to the proper values.
