IMPLANT FOR REPAIR OF DEFECT OF THORACIC SPINE AND PARTS OF RIBS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61F2/28 A61B17/70

Abstract RU 2819511 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: implant for restoration of defect of thoracic spine and parts of ribs includes implants of restored part of ribs and basic means, intended for attachment to preserved vertebrae of thoracic spine above and below defect of spinal column, comprising a bar and transpedicular polyaxial screws for screwing into the preserved thoracic vertebrae, having a groove in the heads for mounting the bar. Implants of the restored part of the ribs are made in the form of flexible elongated elements, one ends of which can be fixed to the bar by means of retainers, and the other ends are made in the form of plates equipped with means for connection with ribs of the chest. Each flexible elongated element of the implant of the repaired part of the rib represents a spiral-shaped elastic wire of rectangular shape in cross-section. Spiral turns in the plan are changed so that to repeat the contour in the plan of the corresponding restored part of the rib. Cavity inside each flexible elongated element has an elliptical shape in cross section, characterized by a gradual change in the size of the implant of the restored portion of the rib along the longitudinal length corresponding to the restored portion of the rib.

EFFECT: invention provides higher reliability and durability of the chest implant, reduced contouring of the chest implant under the skin (so that it is less visible under the skin), possibility of disassembling and assembling the device with replacement of its individual elements (assemblies), creating a chest implant, which is more consistent with the natural movement of ribs during breathing, as well as wider range of products when performing this type of operations on chest.
