FIELD: smoking articles.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a smoking article that includes a holder and a removable cartridge. The cartridge is configured to be placed in the receiving end of the holder and contains a heat source configured to generate heat when it is ignited, and a substrate-like part having a substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition associated therewith. The holder also includes an ejector mechanism configured to move the cartridge relative to the holder between a placement position and an ejection position. In one variant, the pusher mechanism comprises a push rod, a guide ring, a locating sleeve, and a spring, wherein the cartridge is operable in the locating sleeve, and the push rod is movable relative to the guide ring to drive the locating sleeve alternately between position for placement and push position.
