FIELD: smoking systems.

SUBSTANCE: aerosol delivery devices such as smoking articles, and more specifically to aerosol delivery devices that can use electrically generated heat to produce an aerosol (for example, smoking products commonly referred to as electronic cigarettes). An aerosol delivery device is proposed. The aerosol delivery device comprises a power source, a heating element having a resistance that is variable and proportional to the temperature of the heating element, and a power switch connected to and between the power source and the heating element. The aerosol delivery device also includes a processing circuit and a lower arm current sensing circuit connected to and between the heating element and the processing circuit. The low-side current-sensing circuit produces an output voltage that is equal to or proportional to the heater output voltage at the heating element. The processing circuit measures the output voltage, determines the resistance of the heating element, determines the temperature of the heating element from the resistance, and adjusts the signal applied to the power switch when the temperature deviates from the predetermined set value.

EFFECT: provision of aerosol delivery devices with improved electronic equipment, for example, such that can improve the usability of the devices.
