FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of making metal-glass units and can be used in instrument making, for example, in making electrical insulators and sealed lead-ins. Method of manufacturing metal-glass units in bell-type furnace includes pumping out air, filling the furnace cover with protective gas, heating, holding at preset temperature and cooling together with the furnace. Air is pumped out to pressure in furnace of 0.013–0.0013 Pa, then the furnace is heated to temperature of 400–500 °C, said temperature is maintained until air pressure in the cap is not more than 0.013 Pa, after that, the cap is filled with forming gas consisting of technical hydrogen and nitrogen, and heating to the specified temperature providing the glass-to-metal junction.

EFFECT: exclusion of gas bubbles in glass.
