FIELD: means of defence.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a system for protecting an aircraft (hereinafter referred to as AC) from guided missiles with optical homing heads. To protect AC from guided missiles, missiles approaching it are detected by UV or IR sensors, which perform simultaneous all-round scanning of space around it. Simultaneously, missiles are detected by an active pulse-Doppler radar station (hereinafter referred to as RS), which performs sequential sector scanning of space around the AC. Method includes suppressing IR homing heads of missiles by combined use of shooting false thermal targets (FTT), which is carried out when receiving from the RS information on the missile reaching the maximum permissible range for the use of the FTT, and the creation of modulated infrared interference of narrow directional modulated infrared interference generators (hereinafter referred to as NDMIG) in a certain way and in a certain order, which are guided by the UV sensors. System comprises UV sensors, pulse-Doppler RS, decision unit, FTT ejection device, AC protection system control device, flight-navigation system of AC, toggle switch of operating mode, system time sensor, database of target array, NDMIG.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of AC protection against simultaneous attack of two and more missiles.
