FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for organomodifying bentonite clay, which is used as a filler for producing polymer composite materials. Method of producing silanised organophilic bentonite involves mixing bentonite and a solution of an organomodifier in a low-molecular weight alcohol at temperature of 60–80 °C, drying and milling, wherein bentonite suspension is prepared in a solution consisting of water and ethanol for 30 minutes, separate preparation of a solution of tetraethoxysilane in a low-molecular weight alcohol for 30 minutes, followed by mixing the obtained solutions for 2 hours, washing the suspension with ethanol, drying to constant weight at temperature of 105–110 °C.
EFFECT: high thermal stability of the obtained organomodified powdered bentonite owing to use of an effective organomodifier, as well as reducing the amount of organomodifier in the organomodification process.
