FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to production of 2-isobutyl-2-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-4-one, which can be used as a monomer for producing environmentally friendly polymers with high biodegradability. Method consists in fact that 2-isobutyl-2-methyl-4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane is oxidised with ozone in methylene chloride at a temperature of -50 °C, the formed peroxides are treated with dimethyl sulphide.
EFFECT: increasing output of end product to 91%.
