METATARSAL BONE ALLOGRAFT FOR METATARSAL BONE ELONGATION Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/56

Abstract RU 2820620 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to traumatology and orthopaedics, and can be used for one-step correction of the length of short metatarsal bones in their shortening and (or) deformations of various aetiologies. Method involves a transverse osteotomy of the bone at the apex of the deformation, lengthening of the flexor-extension apparatus of the finger, intermetatarsal (lig. metatarzalis) and intermetacarpal ligaments (lig. metacarpalis) and performing traction along the axis of the short tubular bone with a spreader. Preformed bone allograft is introduced into the diastasis formed between the bone fragments, which corresponds to the length of the diastasis and the shape of the short tubular bone and more than 80% of the surface of which is made by a cortical layer. Fixation of segments of tubular bones and allograft is performed with crossed wires with diameter of 10–12 mm. In case of short tubular bone shortening, osteotomy is performed within distal metaphysis.

EFFECT: method provides minimum invasiveness, reduced time spent on surgical intervention due to the fact that the graft has a shape and strength (more than 80 percent of the surface of the graft is made with a cortical layer), which is necessary for the correction of the length and shape of the short tubular bone, and can be prepared in advance taking into account the required elongation, up to 1 mm, and does not require additional processing due to the introduction of the preformed bone allograft and features of its implementation.
