FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: electric furnace equipped with video device contains melting chamber, made with possibility of cold iron raw material melting by means of heat generated by arc to produce molten cast iron, preheating chamber, made with possibility of preliminary heating of cold iron raw material, which must be supplied to melting chamber, and video device made with possibility of observation of inner part of melting chamber. Video device comprises: relay lens, consisting of a plurality of lenses; an inner tube accommodating a relay lens and having an outer diameter of 20 mm or more and 100 mm or less; an outer tube accommodating the inner tube; and an image forming device located at the axial end of the relay lens outside the furnace. At that, video device is installed through hole in furnace wall or through hole in furnace cover, limiting melting chamber, in such a way that the relay lens is located at distance of 300 mm or more and 3,500 mm or less from the upper boundary of the molten iron in the direction vertically upwards, and the image forming device is located at distance of 300 mm or more from the inner wall of the furnace or from the furnace cover in the direction from the furnace.

EFFECT: enabling direct and distinct observation of the state in the melting chamber in the electric furnace.
