FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to production of cast iron in electric furnace. Electric furnace comprises preheating chamber, melting chamber, cold iron feed device configured to divide the preheating chamber into the first and second preheating chambers, extruder and video device configured to monitor use of the second preheating chamber. Melting, heating, preheating and tapping processes are performed in the furnace. During the heating process, after the cold iron raw material supply device is closed, and based on the visual information received from the video device of the second preheating chamber, heating of the molten cast iron is started.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce production costs by increasing efficiency of molten cast iron heating with additional guarantee that it will not remain in liquid bath below device for supply of cold iron material.
