FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to production of iron-carbon alloy from thermite mixture and can be used in metallurgy and foundry. Melt from thermite mixture is obtained in a crucible containing a body and a bottom, in which there is a drain hole with a shutter under it. In front of the drain hole there is a spinneret made in the form of a hollow disc with nozzles for cooling liquid attached to it. Tubes are installed inside the hollow disc, their open ends are brought out to parallel surfaces of the disc. On the surface of the spinneret disc facing the thermite mixture, a combustible protective coating is located, to the inner surface of the disc facing the protective coating, thermocouples are attached, which are connected to the cooling liquid supply control unit. Produced melt is cooled to temperature (30–50) °C higher than its melting point before discharge from the crucible.
EFFECT: as a result, the amount of gases in the melt is reduced, which lead to gas porosity of the casting, and shrinkage of the melt is reduced, which leads to obtaining a casting with predicted properties.
