SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of belts from low-carbon steels. Method includes hot rolling of slab billet on wide-strip mill to obtain billet of specified thickness H, preparatory operations, cold rolling of the obtained billet in five passes at the mill, final annealing, temper rolling, wherein the first and fifth passes are carried out by symmetric rolling, and the second, third and fourth passes are carried out by asymmetric rolling, note here that billet thickness in hot rolling is determined from the expression: H=k·H_s, where H is the thickness of the specified hot-rolled workpiece used in the case of asymmetric cold rolling in the second, third and fourth passes, mm; H_s is the thickness of the hot-rolled workpiece used in the case of symmetrical cold rolling, mm; k=1.25–1.80, coefficient taking into account possibility of subsequent asymmetric cold rolling for selected thicknesses, wherein cold rolling in the second, third and fourth passes is carried out at the ratio of the peripheral speeds of the rolls: , where V₂ is the peripheral speed of the lower roll, V₁ is the peripheral speed of the upper roll, note here that single reductions in second, third and fourth passes are equal to ε=28–40% while total reduction is not less than 75%.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of hot rolling mill.
