FIELD: mining; testing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of PDC drill bits, namely to input quality control of PDC cutters. Before tests, the measuring unit is installed on the drive table so that the diamond cutting disc, when lowered, touches the upper part of the edge of the PDC cutter in the middle part of the end face of the diamond-containing layer, speed of movement of diamond cutting disc relative to sample is set similar to speed of movement of PDC cutter relative to bottomhole, at that, prior to the PDC cutter abrasive wear test, it is heated to a temperature in range of 600–800°C, and a hole for the retainer is drilled in the diamond cutting disc. Mandrel with the PDC cutter is fixed in the measuring unit, the drive is switched on and data is collected on the computer, the diamond cutting disc is lowered onto the tested PDC cutter, the contact is loaded, PDC cutter is tested for abrasive wear on diamond particles for a certain period of time. During the tests, the value of normal load, friction force and temperature of the PDC cutter are controlled. After the tests, the wear value is determined, from which the wear resistance of the PDC cutter is determined, wherein after the tests, the wear of the diamond cutting disc is additionally evaluated, and during the tests, the measuring unit is cooled.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability and expanding the functionality of the obtained test results of PDC cutters for abrasive wear.
