METHOD FOR INSPECTING ARTIFICIAL URINARY SPHINCTER WITH LOSS OF EFFICIENCY AND DECREASE IN VOLUME OF FLUID IN RESERVOIR Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/00 A61F2/04

Abstract RU 2821255 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surgical urology. Components of the artificial urinary sphincter are mobilized and filled with fluid. If a defect is detected in the reservoir or cuff, without mobilizing the pump, after removing air from the reservoir and the cuff, the free ends of the tubes from the pump to the reservoir and from the pump to the cuff are immersed into the liquid. Pump is palpated and placed in the tissues at angle of 45 degrees with the tubes upwards so that the free end of the pump faces downwards, and the deactivation button faces the right hip of the patient. Further, the pump is pressed successively, wherein the liquid fills the connecting tube to the cuff, the pump and the connecting tube to the reservoir. After air removal, the tubes are tightly connected to the reservoir and to the cuff, and the wound is closed in layers.

EFFECT: method enables reducing risks of complications related to mobilization of the artificial urinary sphincter pump, reducing expenditures for consumables, reducing the length of operation.
