FIELD: smoking accessories.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to tobacco industry, in particular to hookah devices generating aerosol. Aerosol-generating device comprises a housing configured to receive an aerosol-generating substrate. Heating element is configured to heat the aerosol-generating substrate. Power supply is functionally connected to the heating element. Controller is configured to control power supply and heating element. Switch has a sensor for detecting the presence of an actuating element and functionally connected to the controller. Controller is configured to set the heating element to standby mode when presence of said actuating element is detected. To implement the method of using the aerosol-generating device, an actuating element is placed near the sensor, the presence of the actuating element is detected and power supply to the heating element is controlled.
EFFECT: high efficiency of heating and enabling automatic switching of the device to standby mode.
