FIELD: aerosol generating systems.

SUBSTANCE: proposed group of inventions relates to an electronic system and an aerosol delivery method. The method for determining the characteristics of a user in an aerosol delivery system configured to generate an aerosol from an aerosol generating substance for inhalation by a user comprises the steps of: detecting an air flow associated with the beginning of a user's inhalation through the aerosol delivery system, calculating a gradient for the air flow during the first period after the start of inhalation, predicting at least one parameter of: inhalation intensity and duration based on the calculated gradient, and adjusting one or more operating parameters of the aerosol delivery system in response to at least one predicted inhalation intensity and duration. The method is carried out using a user characterization system comprising an electronic aerosol delivery system configured to generate an aerosol from an aerosol generating substance for inhalation by the user. The user performance determination system comprises a processor configured to detect an airflow associated with the start of a user's inhalation through the aerosol delivery system, a gradient calculation processor configured to calculate an airflow gradient during the first period after the start of inhalation, a prediction processor configured to predict an inhalation intensity and/or duration based on the calculated gradient; and a control unit configured to adjust one or more operating parameters of the aerosol delivery system in response to the predicted inhalation intensity and/or duration.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of determining the characteristics of the user to improve the supply of aerosol to the user.
