METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF POSTTRAUMATIC ENDOPHTHALMITIS IN PATIENTS WITH PENETRATING EYE INJURY Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B3/10 A61B3/12

Abstract RU 2821758 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and aims at prediction of posttraumatic endophthalmitis in patients with penetrating eye injury. Anamnestic data are collected, visometry, ophthalmoscopy, biomicroscopy are performed. Prognostic parameters are assessed: age, female sex, presence of localization of damages in limbocorneal zone, presence of hypopyon, presence of purulent discharge from conjunctival cavity, presence of total hyphema, performance of cataract phacoemulsification, number of sutures on wound area per cm2. Each prognostic parameter is assigned a numerical coefficient equal to 1 if present, 0 if not. Probability (P) of developing posttraumatic endophthalmitis in the patients with a penetrating eye injury is determined by the claimed formula. If P is 0.0007–0.53, a low risk of developing posttraumatic endophthalmitis is predicted. If the P value is 0.54–0.77, the average risk of developing posttraumatic endophthalmitis is predicted. If the P value is 0.78–0.99, a high risk of developing posttraumatic endophthalmitis is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of prediction due to selection of the most objective prognostic parameters of development of posttraumatic endophthalmitis and creating a multifactorial mathematical model for predicting the development of posttraumatic endophthalmitis with subsequent calculation of the probability of the risk of developing the disease.
