FIELD: acceleration equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to accelerators, particularly, to direct-action accelerators. Charged particle accelerator includes a source of charged particles, an accelerating system consisting of a low-voltage electrode, a high-voltage electrode, a set of intermediate electrodes and insulators between them, and a control system. Between the low-voltage electrode and the high-voltage electrode there is a circuit of series-connected voltage sources with individual electric power supply of sources from photoelectric converters, optical radiation from laser sources of optical radiation is supplied to said photoelectric converters. Said voltage sources are connected to intermediate electrodes to set potentials on intermediate electrodes.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the direct-action accelerator, as well as increasing its service life due to the increased operating current and increased stability of the potential distribution of the intermediate electrodes.
