FIELD: rail vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and can be used to control electropneumatic brakes of passenger trains during service braking. Method for automatic control of electropneumatic brakes of passenger trains during service braking implementation consists in the fact that based on information on current speed, distance of the stop point or the next speed limit, the traffic light reading, the track profile on the section, calculating the pressure in the brake cylinder, wherein adaptive control of train braking is ensured by varying pressure in brake cylinder calculated on the basis of programmed adaptation to maintain constant pressure margin during service braking. Device for implementing this method includes a microprocessor unit for adaptive braking control, an on-board control program unit, a path and speed sensor, display, brake cylinder pressure sensor, electro-pneumatic brakes control unit, data input unit. Device is installed in driver’s cabin and consists of a microprocessor unit for adaptive braking control, to the inputs of which a brake cylinder pressure sensor, a path and speed sensor, a data input unit are connected, and a display is connected to the outputs of the microprocessor unit, electro-pneumatic brakes control unit. Microprocessor unit incorporates software algorithm to calculate and control brake cylinder pressure. Invention operates in three modes: 1 - semiautomatic mode; 2 - automatic mode; 3 - informing mode.

EFFECT: reduced length of braking distance of passenger trains and reduced probability of wheel pairs jamming.
