FIELD: medicine; urology; andrology; reproductology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to increase the effectiveness of treating infertility caused by varicocele. Following clinical and laboratory data of the patient are assessed: age, duration of sterile marriage, initial percentage of motile sperm cells in ejaculate, change in number of progressively motile sperm cells in 3 months. after varicocelectomy. If the increase in number of progressively motile sperm cells in ejaculate is in the range of ≥7.8 million, but ≤35.7 million, the following indicators are additionally determined: the age of the man, the duration of the sterile marriage, initial percentage of motile sperm cells and postoperative increase in number of progressively motile sperm cells in ejaculate, with subsequent determination of probability of pregnancy (D—value of discriminant function) by formula and the obtained results are compared with reference values.
EFFECT: method enables assessing the probability of a natural pregnancy by evaluating a complex of the most significant indicators.
