SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a power supply for a modular aerosol generating device, a first type module and a second type module for use with a power supply, a modular aerosol generating device and a set of components for a modular aerosol generating device. The power supply unit for the modular inhalation aerosol generating device is configured to configure the aerosol generating device by the user by selectively connecting one module of either the first type or the second type module to this power supply unit. The module of the first type is designed to contain a material that is not liquid for electronic cigarettes, and contains a heater that can be activated to heat the specified material in order to generate an inhalable aerosol. The module of the second type is designed to contain liquid for electronic cigarettes in order to generate an inhalable aerosol. The power supply contains a connection interface for detachable mechanical and electrical connection of the power supply either with a module of the first type or with a module of the second type.
