FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing 3,4-dihydropyrimidino[2,1-a]isoindol-6(2H)-one. Method is carried out by heating phthalic anhydride and 1,3-diaminopropane in molar ratio of 1:1 in ortho-xylene with a nozzle for removing water for 10–16 hours with subsequent removal of ortho-xylene at pressure of 5–30 mm Hg and extraction with boiling hexane. Extract is cooled to 0 °C with subsequent filtration and drying.
EFFECT: obtaining 3,4-dihydropyrimidino[2,1-a]isoindole-6(2H)-one with high output and reduced by-products.
