SUBSTANCE: invention relates to anisotropic electrical steel sheet and methods of forming a coating on the sheet. Sheet comprises a base steel sheet and an insulating coating formed on the surface of the base steel sheet, wherein the insulating coating comprises an intermediate layer formed on the side of the main steel sheet and containing crystalline metal phosphate, and a coating layer with tension formed on the surface side of the insulating coating, the surface of the main steel sheet has an etching pattern, wherein the average thickness of the intermediate layer is 0.2–10.0 mcm, and the average thickness of the insulating coating is 2.0–10.0 mcm, the coating layer with tension contains metal phosphate and silicon dioxide, and amount of silicon dioxide in coating layer with tension is 20–60 wt.%.
