SUBSTANCE: invention relates to infant nutrition. Non-therapeutic method for modulating the timing and results of intestinal maturation in an infant involves administering a nutritional composition selected from an infant formula and the following infant formula containing lipid, protein and digestible carbohydrates. Lipid is in the form of lipid globules, and the lipid globules have an average diameter by volume of at least 1 mcm, and/or at least 45 vol.% of the lipid globules have diameter of 2–12 mcm, and the lipid comprises at least 0.5 wt.% phospholipids relative to the total lipid. Lipid globules have a coating containing a phospholipid.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to modulate terms and results of intestinal maturation in an infant.
