FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of repairing axle box double-row tapered roller bearings of cartridge type, intended for operation under an adapter, containing metal-elastomer contact-labyrinth seals, having outer ring thickness (Sg) of 7.8 mm and with overall dimensions of 150×250×160 mm, which contains the following stages: (1) input control of bearing assembly; (2) disassembly of the bearing, which includes complete removal and disposal of the seal; (3) cleaning disassembled bearing parts; (4) visual and geometrical inspection of cleaned parts; (5) sorting and assembling the bearing with replacement of the required bearing parts. Step (4) includes measurement operations to determine at least variability of outer diameter (VDsp) in a single plane on outer diameter (D) of the outer ring and on diameter of the seal seat (Dg). Bearing outer race is allowed to next stage of repair method, if deviation from variability of outer diameter (VDsp) in single plane along outer diameter (D) is 20–30 mcm, and deviation from variability of outer diameter (VDsp) in a single plane along the diameter of the seat for seal is 20–35 mcm.

EFFECT: increased number of bearing parts allowed for repair at maintaining the required reliability of bearings.
