SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgical dentistry, maxillofacial surgery and X-ray diagnostics, clinical anatomy, and can be used to assess risk of oroantral fistula in maxillary tooth extraction. Cone-beam computed tomography is performed. Tomogram shows the distance from the root tips of the canine, the first premolar, the second premolar, the first molar, the second molar, the third molar of the upper jaw to the bottom of the maxillary sinus. If the root apex protrudes into the maxillary sinus cavity, a high risk of an oroantral anastomosis is determined when a maxillary tooth is removed. If the apex of the tooth root contacts the boundaries of the maxillary sinus, without protruding into the cavity of the maxillary sinus, and the cortical plate of the bottom of the maxillary sinus is interrupted, then a moderate risk of oroantral fistula is determined when the tooth of the upper jaw is removed. If the root apex is located at a distance to the maxillary sinus bottom more than 2 mm or less than 2 mm, wherein the cortical plate is not interrupted, a low risk of an oroantral fistula is determined when a maxillary tooth is removed.

EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of preoperative diagnosis of risks of oroantral fistula by assessing the location of the tooth root.
