FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to urology and can be used for differential diagnosis of pyelonephritis and urolithiasis by examination of human biological fluid. Urine of the patients with suspected pyelonephritis and/or urolithiasis is analysed for the concentration of the antibacterial peptide lactoferricin by the immunochemical method. If urine lactoferricin concentration is higher than 10 ng/ml, pyelonephritis is diagnosed. If urine lactoferricin concentration is less than 5 ng/ml, urolithiasis is diagnosed. If the urine lactoferricin concentration is 5 to 10 ng/ml, pyelonephritis is diagnosed with underlying urolithiasis.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the accuracy and simplifying the procedure of differential diagnosis of pyelonephritis and urolithiasis by determining the concentration of the antibacterial peptide lactoferricin in human urine.
