FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abdominal surgery and can be used for diagnosis of bacterial abdominal surgical infection in appendicitis by biochemical analysis of human biological fluid. Blood serum of surgical patients is analysed for concentration of antibacterial peptide lactoferricin by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. If detected in a concentration of not less than 40 ng/ml, a bacterial abdominal surgical infection is diagnosed in the patients.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the sensitivity and the accuracy of the procedure for diagnosing a bacterial abdominal surgical infection by determining the concentration of the antibacterial peptide lactoferricin in the blood serum of surgical patients.
